FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is your building handicapped-accessible and can you accommodate wheelchairs?
Yes. Please let us know when making your reservation, so that we can ensure you have accessible seating.
Is photography and/or recording devices allowed?
As a general rule, due to contractual obligations and for the safety of the cast members, stage crew and the enjoyment of other guests, absolutely no photography or recording devices of any kind are permitted. Actors will greet guests in the lobby after the performance, at which time they will gladly pose for photographs.
How long are most shows?
Shows vary in length but typically run approximately 2 hours with a 10- 15 minute intermission.
What is your inclement weather policy?
Occasionally, inclement winter weather may cause GTG to cancel/postpone a scheduled performance. Various factors come into consideration: weather, street & parking lot conditions, and availability of cast & crew.
If we cancel or postpone a performance, we will contact all reservations by telephone when possible. We will also post a note here on our website, on our Facebook page and update our box office answering machine message. Call (423) 470-2792 for updates if you have any doubts.
How do you cast your shows?
We hold open auditions for anyone who is interested. No previous theatre experience is necessary.
What do I need for auditions?
Different directors require different preparations for auditions based on the type of show being cast. Any audition requirements are listed with audition notices. For example, no preparation may be necessary for non-musicals – although a familiarity with the play or the characters is a plus – auditions will be “cold readings.” Depending on the director, for musicals, you may need to prepare a section of a song to sing and/or be ready to learn some simple choreography.
If I order tickets online, how do I retrieve them?
Tickets are held at the box office in your name. They will be waiting for you when you arrive.
Do you ever need ushers or other volunteers?
YES! We are an all-volunteer organization and are always looking for help. Your time is greatly appreciated! We need volunteers to help with the productions: set designing/painting/building, costumes, props, lighting and sound, make-up, directors, stage managers, backstage crew, ushers & ticket takers, musicians. We need help with marketing, fundraising, education & outreach, show selection etc. We have opportunities to fit every ability, talent & time constraint.
