IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

The most renowned of Oscar Wilde’s comedies, it’s the story of two bachelors; John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise, and misadventure. The elaborate plot ridicules Victorian sensibilities with some of the best loved, and indeed, bizarre characters to be found on the modern stage.

GODSPELL

A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life.

THE CURIOUS SAVAGE

The story of an elderly widow named Mrs. Savage, whose husband has left her $10 million dollars. She intends to give the entire fortune away to people who wish to pursue their “foolish dreams,” but her stepchildren strongly object. To prevent her from doing away with their family’s wealth and ruining their legacy, they have her committed to a sanatorium called The Cloisters, and it is among the gentle residents there that she finds her true family.  The Curious Savage is a warm comedy that compares the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients with the greed and hostility of so-called “normal people.”

ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE

featuring Erin Schultz as Patsy Cline

Always…Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. In 1961, the two women struck up a friendship that lasted until Cline’s untimely death in a plane crash in 1963.  The play focuses on the fateful evening at Houston’s Esquire Ballroom when Seger hears of Cline’s death.  Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the set singing tunes that made her famous.
